Facebook Saves – Recipes

I go on Facebook daily to connect with friends and family, read memes and watch videos.

I find myself saving a lot of posts. I wanted to create blog posts of my saves to help organize them and try later.  Feel free to share with friends and family. Have fun in the kitchen and try something new….

I’ve been watching netflix at night when I’m winding down my day. A few really good cooking shows are ” The Magic Pill”,          “Cooked”, ” Chef’s Table ” ” Forks over Knives”.

Gabubu Bread Recipe

Upon request! Feel free to share…
Native Kabubu Bread/Gabooboo bread/Skillet Bread
Most ingredients come in commods & measurements are guess-timations

1 large bowl
About 8 cups of flour
About 5 cups of warm water
1 cup Dry Milk
1 cup Mashed Potato Flakes (instant kind)
3 tablespoons of Baking Powder
1 teaspoon of salt
Corn syrup (as much as you want to sweeten…this goes into the warm water in the middle of ingredients)
If no Corn Syrup then add 2 or 3 cups of sugar to dry ingredients (less or more depending on how sweet you like your bread)
—mix dry ingredients evenly *1st pic
—turn on skillet to heat, when heated turn between low & medium heat and add vegetable oil to cover bottom
—then make a concave hole in dry ingredients and fill with warm water & if using corn syrup add also *2nd pic
—knead into dough adding more flour if necessary
—make a kinda large ball *3rd pic
—sprinkle flour on table and flatten ball (not too flat though) *4th pic
—set into skillet and with your spatula slice 2 slits into bread *5th pic
—cook on medium to low heat until top side gets fluffy and bottom half is golden brown then flip
—each side takes about 3-6 minutes, when done they should be about an inch thick *6th pic

This makes about 6-8 plate size Kabubu breads.

Grandmother’s Words

From FaceBook post June 24th at 9:06 am.

This is an amazing time on Earth. The energy is building and we are remembering the Magic.

Magic is not casting evil spells and dark magic, Magic is remembering our connection to All That is.

You can create a prayer, an intention, a wish and send it out from your heart to a person, place or living being.

You can make positive change in your area or around the world. If you add the energy of a friend or family member in your prayer or intention, you strengthen the energy of that prayer.

Take your power back. Too many people are waiting for someone else to do it for them.

Too many people have been fooled to believe that they can’t do it.

Learn the protocol for creating a safe and sacred space and start sending out prayer and intention for Unci Maka- our Mother Earth. We are the ones we have been waiting for.

Stop looking outside yourself.

Find an Elder, A Grandmother, a Mentor.

Use Discernment to make sure their energy feels right.

Ask about Sage, Cedar and the medicines to clear your mind and body.

Ask about the Protection Prayers, the songs, the space clearing techniques.

There will be different plants, prayers and protocols but the intention is the same.

Find what feels right in your HEART.

I am here if you need help.

There are many others waiting to help but no one is asking…start asking. It is never too late and our Unci Maka needs our help. The animals, the plants, the water, the trees, everything will benefit from prayer and positive intention.

Humans vs Nature

May 16, 2017.

Thunderstorms today, snow in the next few days. You could say this is just Colorado weather or you could say that weather is far from Normal. I am glad I did not plant my garden for Mother’s day.

I am already mourning the  loss of my girls ( chickens ), a dead garden would put me in a deeper sadness. I try to be a responsible human. I do my best to feed my animals healthy food and take care of their health needs. I would never have put the girls in harms way if I had known that weasels moved into our ecosystem. We had a complete ecosystem breakdown three years ago when they changed the banks of the river, took out a pond, took out all of the trees and plants along the river and drove out the wildlife. We are watching Nature attempt to get back into balance.

The foxes had mange last fall. The Humane Society told us to just late nature take its course. A neighbor down the street gave them Ivermectin in meat and it brought them back. There is a female with kits a few houses down. We have at least two rabbits now, never had them before, and hope the population will stay under control with the fox family. We never hear coyotes at dusk anymore, they moved away when the construction started. We have a healthy population of white tail deer, we call them the ” girls “.

Raccoon populations  come and go but can be dangerous. One big male killed a small dog down the street. My neighbors to the North moved away in August. They used to keep the dumpster open and food was plentiful while they lived there. After they moved we had more run ins with the raccoons at night and trash was strewn all over the street on trash day. Raccoons are hit by cars more often now and they have to travel all over to eat.

Humans have a huge impact on Nature. Corporations build along the river and the  County mitigates the river and natural areas so they can reap the financial benefits with little regard for how it affects the Ecosystems that were there long before the Corporate World descended on it.
